World Cup June 29 Results: Brazil Advances, Germany and Netherlands Exit on Penalties

June 29 Round of 32 results: Brazil 2-1 Japan, Paraguay beat Germany on penalties, and Morocco beat the Netherlands on penalties.

The 2026 World Cup Round of 32 continued on June 29 with one regulation win and two penalty shootouts. Brazil moved through in 90 minutes, while Germany and the Netherlands both exited from the spot.

Brazil 2-1 Japan

Brazil beat Japan 2-1 and became the only team on the day to advance without penalties. After building momentum late in the group stage, Brazil again leaned on wide attacking quality and fast transitions.

Japan stayed competitive throughout, but Brazil was sharper in the penalty area. Japan's unbeaten group-stage run ended at the first knockout hurdle.

Germany 1-1 Paraguay, Paraguay wins 4-3 on penalties

Germany and Paraguay drew 1-1 after extra time before Paraguay won the shootout 4-3. Germany's tournament ended with familiar issues in transition control and finishing under pressure.

Paraguay completed one of the strongest turnarounds of the tournament: from a 4-1 opening loss to the United States to clean sheets, defensive confidence and a penalty upset over Germany.

Netherlands 1-1 Morocco, Morocco wins 3-2 on penalties

The Netherlands and Morocco also went to penalties. Morocco equalized late in regulation, then won the shootout 3-2 to keep its knockout run alive.

Morocco will face Canada in the Round of 16. The Netherlands exits after winning Group F, making it the second major European team eliminated on penalties that day.
